Bacon Lovers Dream

The Hangover Pub: Worcester, MA

Rating: ★★★★

Price Range: $$

This is not your average pub in Worcester, the owner wanted to make this place his own. To do this he made everything contain bacon. From bacon burgers to chicken waffles with bacon infused oils to fried chicken with bacon dust and a side sauce with bacon in it. Every dish contains some form of bacon in it. Those who are vegetarians should stay far away from this place. I ended up getting the typical chicken tenders. They were very juicy and really one of the best tenders I have had. The sauce was not your typical ketchup it was a unique sauce that I really had no idea what it was but it was spicy and had a small taste of bacon. The pub was overall a smaller place. I couldn’t imagine coming during dinner time and how busy it would be. I got the privilege to meet with the owner/chef, Michael Arrastia’s. He told us a brief history about the restaurant and showed us his other restaurant feet away called the Broth. This restaurant had a completely different vibe and theme than the pub did. It was great getting to know more about the chef/owner of the restaurants. The food was somewhat average but the other dishes looked very good. The staff were all extremely nice and welcoming.

Satisfying Your Sweet Tooth

The Queen’s Cups: Worcester, MA

Rating: ★★★★★

Price Range: $$

Queen’s Cups located in Worcester, Massachusetts is a small but sweet filled dessert place. Originally located in Millbury, MA and recently moved to it’s new location. Here, I got the chance to meet with the owner to gain some information about the history of the place and how to make cupcakes. The owner is one of the nicest people I have met she shared her story about how she started this company but also wanted to get to know you also. Baking was just her hobby at home and she would post pictures of it on social media. This got her name around making her more popular. Then she opened her company and many loved it. She showed us how to decorate different popular cupcakes. She helped us step by step in creating these vibrant and beautiful cupcakes. They look, smell, and taste delicious. The Queen’s Cups is one of my favorite places that I have attended the staff are all very nice and the food is amazing.

Antique Dining

The Rose Room: Webster, MA

Rating: ★★★★☆

Price Range: $

This cafe use to be an antique store in Webster, Massachusetts. This fairly new cafe still portrayed the antique vibes that the store before it had. The restaurant was very open and bright. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. This shop, run by a husband, wife, and a old teacher at my school were very kind and give us a heart warming introduction to the new cafe. After spending many minutes contemplating what I should order on their short but very intriguing menu I ended up getting the “Yo-Gertie” ($4) (ingredients: yogurt, granola, coconut shavings, apples, and almonds) and “The Cold Brew” coffee ($4). When the server brought it out to me I was very pleased with the display of everything. It tasted very good but I wish that the yogurt had a little bit more flavor. Something that I loved about the cafe was that I knew where the food was coming from and that everything was local. The owners came around sitting down with costumers and got to know them. They really cared about the customers rather than just their company. The scenery was very neat because of their tables, silverware, plates, and bowls. They were all unique which I enjoyed.

You could also feel some of the different textured plants. The staff were very kind and help guide us through the different greenhouses. Organic and Vegan Living

Heirloom Food Company: Danielson, CT

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Price Range: $$

The first sight of this cafe placed me in a questionable phase. It was on top of a hill and looked more like a house than a restaurant. However, the inside definitely portrayed a small and homey restaurant style feel. It was a very neat place that allowed you to look inside the kitchen at the chefs that were making your food. The menu was very organized and was with a well done chalk board style menu. It was a vegan friendly place with everything being organic. There was even a map with where your food had come from. The tables and furniture also had an organic and rustic vibe. After contemplating for many minutes on what to order I decided on the grown up grilled cheese ($10) (ingredients were: organic raw cheddar or vegan cheese, organic sliced tomato and organic vegan pesto on sourdough) and a monkey business smoothie ($8) (ingredients were: organic banana, almond butter, coconut milk, raw agave, soy milk & chocolate syrup). I thought that the sandwich would come with a side but I was mistaken. The $10 sandwich that was just your typical grilled cheese was not worth the money is was not anything special. I would rather just make one at home for a lot cheaper. The smoothie however, was definitely worth it. It tasted and looked amazing. Every sip exploded with flavor and was definitely worth the money. The workers were very friendly and cared about our experience. I really enjoyed how the restaurant had a small and homey vibe but, I did not like some of the decorations that were there. Some of them were random and did not match the overall vibe. One of my favorite things about Heirloom was that I knew were the food was coming from.

Welcome to Mexico

Mezcal Tequila Cantina: Worcester, MA

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Price Range: $$

Mezcal can be discovered at the heart of Worcester, Massachusetts. Here you can try out new dishes from spicy to sweet. The atmosphere is very welcoming and definitely puts you in the Mexican theme. This restaurant could be considered a chain because of its location in Leominster, MA. The first dish that I tried was their famous chips and guac. I could see why it was so famous because of their beautiful display and amazing mouthwatering tastes. Next, were the nachos. This dish exploded with flavor and were pleasing to the eye. More dishes came rolling this included things like tacos to rice balls to empanadas. All looking and smelling delicious!
